Dear Santa: A Scout Elf’s Caribbean Adventure
Dear Santa,
This week, I’ll be sharing my report by letter. They’ve brought me to a place with white snow, but somehow better. It’s an all-inclusive resort called Beaches, and the views have me speechless. This Scout Elf sure feels lucky; the water is bright blue, and the sky is always sunny.
We are welcomed by friends who remind me of home, the Beaches Scout Elf Central, is a treat on its own. It’s a headquarters for elf-tivities galore, with treats, scavenger hunts and even more to explore.
Next we go to our suite, but this is not something you eat. It’s a cozy place we lay after our long days of play. I’m sticking to my mission and watching the kids closely, there’s just so much to do here, I’ll work…mostly.
The entire family seems so relaxed. Maybe it’s the butler, who even pampers me right before I slumber! I overheard him call me a V.I.E.(Very Important Scout Elf), and it was flattering to a hard working helper like me. He offered us a menu with four elf-tastic choices; the festive trail mix had the children singing rejoices.
The next morning, it was time for adventure. The weather was just perfect, to Pirates Island Water Park we ventured. I watched the children from the top of the ship. I can proudly say, in the lines, they did not skip. I followed behind them on the lazy river, but they were so well behaved they didn't need a sitter. So, I caught some waves on the surf simulator. Seriously, Santa – can this vacation get any greater?
With our toes in the sand, we took in a sunset that was just grand. Warm, cozy, with a sky pink and rosie. Just when we thought things couldn’t get better, I saw a guest sporting a red Christmas sweater. He’s on his way to a holiday party, he proclaims, a fête that looks like candy cane lane! We rush to our feet, new friends we greet, and all at once, our hearts feel complete.
These parties welcome guests every week, tis’ the season’s peak. At the corner of my eye, I notice a table. A mini land of sweets, something from a fable! I widen my gaze, and there is more: hot chocolate, marshmallows, and do I smell s’mores?
But suddenly, I am overwhelmed with holiday spirit; it feels so close, I must be near it. Maybe it’s a wish list or a Scout Elf report? I have to know now, so I can support! I spot my children as around a table they gather. They seem focused; what could be the matter? With pens in their hands and joy in their eyes, I understand now it is a table of supplies. They’re making cards to share with local kids from the island, like a string of love or Christmas garland.
The holiday spirit I felt is clear: it's coming from the children spreading Christmas cheer! As a diligent Scout Elf, I’ll make sure the cards are delivered, that is, of course, after I add a pinch of glitter.
Santa, don’t you see? These kids would make the nice list if it were up to me. The reason for the season is understood. When you check your list, please mark them as good.
The warm fuzzy feeling carried over, with a special announcement from our butler: with stars in the sky it was time for The Elf on the Shelf® Santaverse™ to come alive. A movie played and fresh popcorn was made. On the big screen, I saw your face and the joy of the North Pole was felt across the place.
After the movie, we sang festive karaoke, then it was time for marshmallow soaking. In a plush Beaches bathrobe, I sit and I ponder all of this tropical wonder. Our days at Beaches are moving fast, and I would do anything to make them last. Between you and me, I might shed a tear if we don’t come back this time next year.
Signed and sealed,
A sun kissed Scout Elf
